Creating a magnetic double-well potential

We use a hybrid magnetic trap, which combines two designs commonly used in Bose-Einstein condensation experiments. The QUIC trap allows the double-well potential to be created. It is important that the atoms never experience zero magnetic field, where they may reorient into an untrapped state, so we apply the rotating bias-field technique (pioneered by the TOP trap) to prevent this.
